Good sequence simply means leading with the club and having your upper and lower body working together correctly. A good backswing will consist of the arms or club swinging back, then the shoulders turning, and once the shoulders turn halfway, the hips begin to turn. Because the shoulders turn twice as far as the hips they must start moving first. Everything turns together to the top of the swing once the club has gotten halfway back in the backswing. Included in this move is a weight shift. As the golfer swings their club back, their weight will shift to the inside part of the right or back foot.

To get this move right you want to make it feel as natural as possible. You are simply incorporating your shift into your backswing. In your takeaway and first half of your backswing, your weight should stay pretty stable like how you were in your setup position. Then from the start of the downswing, the lower body should stay stable but start shifting forward so that your upper body gets in line with the golf ball as you hit it at impact. Golf Slice Tips – How to Cure My Slice

The dreaded slice, the left to right curve in ball flight (opposite for left handed subjects). This is a very common and troublesome problem. This can be caused by a wide array of actions. Also, it can be corrected by a large number of solutions. I am going to explain in a little more detail exactly how this is caused and how to go about correcting your slice.

First of all, how do you manage to put such a curve on the ball? Well it is simple physics, the ball is spinning clockwise which pulls air to its left and moves the ball to the right. The cause is usually one of two things. The first being your club face open at impact. By this, I mean that your club has not come back to be fully square on the ball when the club strikes it. This will cause the ball to slide outward creating that clockwise rotation. The next cure is coming through the ball at an out to in swing path. This means the club slashes across the ball at impact coming toward the body again creating that clockwise spin on your ball. These are the two most common reasons for the slice.

Now you know what causes your problem but on to the good stuff, how do we fix it? Now that we know the cause this will be very simple. You may first close the club face at address to help have it closed at impact. To do this you must rotate the club counter clockwise in your grip before you swing. This will solve most of your slice problems. However, if this does not work then we have a more serious issue, this being the out to inside swing path. Still a pretty simple fix! Next time you are on the practice range stand behind your ball and pick out a target. Now place a tee one foot in front of your ball aiming right at the target. The next few times you swing make sure you follow through directly at that tee. This done over and over will help your muscle memory and get you onto an even swing path!
